The Centre of Attention will be showing templatecinema: an ongoing
work in which low-tech movies are made from existing data appropriated
in realtime from the world wide web.
As such, these 'movies' are fragile as they surreptitiously grab images
and sounds from already existing websites that lie beyond the direct control
of the artists themselves. In fact, each work of template cinema is simply
a list of instructions, not unlike the drawings of Sol Lewitt for example,
but unlike Lewitt's drawings, these instructions actually execute themselves.
In the gallery
you will be able to access the website for live movies and there will
be also a DVD available with archived works created by the site.
Films
are available for viewing at: http://www.templatecinema.com
