Milton Keynes Gallery Opening event: Friday 27 November, 6 to 8pm Exhibition: Friday 27 November 2009 to Sunday 3 January 2010
In the Cube Gallery, the Centre of Attention presents Gemeinschaft und Gesellschaft (2007), which refers to a book by German sociologist Ferdinand Tönnies. This open source installation invites visitors to make an artistic judgement or statement by making changes to the work (such as adding, moving or editing elements). In the Middle Gallery, the Centre of Attention will display the Lost & Found curators within a formal office environment (The curators No2). In the Long Gallery, artist Graham Hudson will be in residence from 23 November to 1 December, during which time he will construct a new work in the form of a multi-levelled framework of scaffolding and pallets incorporating audio and visual elements, such as TV monitors and record players.
The exhibition is curated by Lost & Found, a group of young artists, designers, writers and musicians who have been working with Milton Keynes Gallery over the past three years, as part of its Big Lottery Funded Young People’s Project. With special thanks to Natalie Walton and Lawrence Leaman.
